The article discusses the existing results of the implementation of the wikiportal, which is devoted to the field of information science and librarianship, in the Czech Wikipedia. The first parts of the article give basic information about portal, about reasons for its implementation and about its goals, too. The next part gives an overview of existing project outputs and results of the portal, followed by the section dealing with options and proposals for further development of the portal, including the possibility of participation of a wider user base. The final part of the paper is dedicated to the overall summary and conclusions of the portal’s achievements, future challenges, problems and its general sense, too.

The study deals with measuring and evaluating the quality of the contents of modern collectively created encyclopedic works. Introductory parts provide a definition of freely available encyclopedic works and basic typology and possibilities of classification of encyclopedic works in general with focus on freely available internet encyclopedias. The next part, which is introduced with the basic outline of the typology of research approaches to the quality of the content of Wikipedia, provides a summary of approaches and results of selected international studies measuring and evaluating the quality of the content of Wikipedia. Own research part and its results are contained in Chapter 7. It deals with measuring and evaluating the quality of the content of articles about information science in the Czech, Slovak, English and German language versions of Wikipedia and related content, too. The main used method is quantitative (bibliometric) analysis, which is also followed by additional qualitative assessment derived from the results of quantitative measuring. The final section provides a summary and evaluation of the results of all previous sections and resulting conclusions and recommendations, including future challenges.

The article presents current open access information resources of scientific information. The most important information resources are described in more detail – subject archives and institutional repositories, open access journals, open access encyclopedias and other open access resources.
