Publishing behaviour is an important part of human information behaviour. Publishing the results of scientific research does not only expand the knowledge base of the society, but also helps in determining the quality of universities in a country and in distributing financial resources of the state budget from the level of ministry of education. This article presents the outputs of bibliometrical analysis carried out on the database of articles and other publications produced by teachers and researchers of the Comenius University in Bratislava. Based on the results of the analysis, models of publishing behaviour of researchers in primary fields of science were drawn. The models are built upon such characteristics as type of publication, co-authorship, language of publishing, citing rates and others.

The article gives an overview of the conference Research information systems in the EU - Standardization and Compatibility held in Bratislava at the end of April 2009. Topics of conference covered European format CERIF, Czech system of research and development and its evaluation, structure and functions of Hungarian system HunCRIS, detailed structure of Czech system ISVaV and its microdata and finally system of organization of system of research and development in Slovac Republic and its future.

This article provides a short overview of the MESUR project and its major objective to enriching the toolkit used for the assessment of the impact of scholarly communication items, and hence of scholars, with metrics that derive from usage data.

MUFIN (MUlti-Feature Indexing Network) is a multi-purpose similarity search system developed at Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University. Using a metric-space approach, the system can index and search any data, provided a distance function is available to compute the distance (dissimilarity) of any pair of objects. The first publicly available implementation is the MUFIN Image Search system which indexes 50 000 000 Flickr images.

This article gives an overview of the Dr. Vladimír Albrecht’s (Technology Centre AS CR) lecture on the topic of European research assessment in the course Introduction to Scientometrics organized by the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship of Charles University in Prague. The participants were informed about the activities of the Technology Centre AS CR, broad issue of the Framework Programmes and possibilities of its assessment.

This article gives an overview of dr. Hana Skálová's (First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University) lecture on the topic of the registration of the publication research outputs in the course Introduction to Scientometrics organized by the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship of Charles University in Prague. The lecture was focused on the process of the data collection and control, data format and structure and on the system of national and institutional repositories as well as its assessment on both levels. The second part of the lecture covered the practice on the First Faculty of Medicine and their informational support of the process.

A description of some of the fundamental concepts in CASPAR as well as the metrics by which CASPAR believes that it, and other projects which claim to aid the practice of digital preservation, should be judged. It shows how CAPSAR attempts to follow the OAIS Reference Model and to employ concept of virtualization. CASPAR preservation infrastructure and some of its components are described in more detail including Registry/Repository and Knowledge Manager.
