This paper deals with the topic of school information systems. It is discussed in the context of the following concepts/approaches – knowledge management, management information systems (MIS), school management. School information systems represent a software tool used to support administrative and educational tasks of a school.
Development of the school information systems field is characterized with the use of practical experience from the countries that have most experience in using this type of systems. (Great Britain, Netherlands, Hong Kong, New Zealand). Besides, supply of school information system software solutions on the market in the Czech Republic is briefly described.
